On November 9, 2021, Haiyang City in Yantai, Shandong Province, officially launched the nuclear heating mode to ensure the winter heating of 200,000 people, and the heating area reached 4.5 million square meters. From coal-fired heating to nuclear heating, Haiyang City has become the country's first "zero carbon" heating city.

In the past, coal-fired heating was the main heating method in northern China in winter. In recent years, with the increasing amount of coal burning, the emission of air pollutants has increased, causing serious damage to air quality. Since 2017, China has vigorously promoted clean heating in the northern region, and nuclear energy as a safe and clean energy, heating without soot, ash, nitrogen oxide emissions, is the most economical and safest heating method.

Different from coal-fired heating, the principle of nuclear heating is to extract steam from the second circuit of the nuclear power unit as a heat source, carry out multi-channel isolation and multi-stage heat transfer through the heat exchange station, and finally transfer heat to the user through the municipal heating network. In this process, only the heat transfer, no water and other media exchange, to ensure that the user heating clean, safe.

As a listed company specializing in pipeline production and research and development, "Donghong" plays an important role in the transmission of this project. In January 2021, after the bidding process, our company successfully won the bid for the 4.5 million M2 nuclear heating pipe network project in the new and old urban areas of Haiyang City, and provided φ720mm-φ1020mm polyurethane sprayed polyethylene winding prefabricated direct-buried insulation pipe and supporting pipe fittings for the project.

Relying on the perfect product logistics system and strong team support, the first batch of insulation pipes were successfully delivered to the construction site in mid-March, smoothly guaranteeing the construction of the project.

As can be seen from the above picture, the size of the bubble hole of the "spray winding" process is significantly smaller than that of the "two-step method - tube in tube" process, and the density is high. The elliptical bubble hole increases the radial compression strength of the polyurethane insulation layer, and further enhances the thermal insulation performance and deformation resistance of the pipe.

After the polyurethane foam is cured completely, the outer protective polyethylene layer will be wrapped, which can effectively eliminate the residual stress during the foaming process, and the outer winding structure has no axial molecular orientation to avoid the possibility of axial cracking.

The whole pipe production process adopts automatic production technology, and high standard quality control runs through the whole production process, and quality production helps the stable operation of the project.

After the project was put into operation, the nuclear power unit officially replaced the local 12 coal-fired boilers, compared with previous years, it is expected to save 100,000 tons of raw coal, reduce 180,000 tons of carbon dioxide, 691 tons of soot, 1,123 tons of nitrogen oxides, and 1,188 tons of sulfur dioxide, equivalent to planting 1,000 hectares of broadleaf forest, while reducing the heat emission to the environment 1.3 million GJ.

Nuclear heating not only improves the heating quality of residents, but also improves the atmospheric environment and Marine ecological environment of Haiyang City during the heating season. Donghong Pipe, as the transmission of the project, has assumed an important mission and contributed to helping the country achieve carbon peak carbon neutrality as soon as possible.
