PVC-O Pipes: Advantages and Disadvantages Revealed
2024-07-10

Now, the PVC pipes manufacturers are developing and researching PVC -O pipes, which are considered to represent the strength and technical level of a factory. In fact, PVC-0 pipes also have many shortcomings and deficiencies, but many reports only say that the good ones are the substantive problems many consumers do not know.

Due to the versatility of PVC and the variability of the formula, PVC-O Pipe, a new type of pipe, has all the above characteristics: tensile strength, impact resistance, fatigue resistance, comprehensive performance, transportation, installation, maintenance, easy-to-lay, and other advantages. Its super performance allows it to be applied to higher pressure and harsher environments.

PVC-O pipes are easy to carry out unidirectional stretching during the moulding process, that is, axial stretching orientation, which can be achieved as long as the speed ratio of pipe traction and extrusion increases. However, this axial tensile orientation is meaningless to the comprehensive performance of the pipe and sometimes has an adverse effect, because although it enhances the strength of the axial orientation of the pipe through the tensile orientation, it reduces the strength of the radial (that is, circumferential) molecular force of the pipe, which is very harmful to the plastic pipe, especially the water supply pipe. Because it will significantly reduce the hydraulic strength of the pipe.

Therefore, the PVC-O pipe we require must have a molecular orientation in the stretching direction and a molecular orientation in the expansion direction, which will give the polymer a specific molecular alignment along the axis and a molecular orientation in the ring direction. This has specific requirements for the production process.

When the PVC-O pipe has been produced at a specific temperature, due to the slight friction in the molecular chain, it is easier to move freely, and when it is subjected to a particular stress, it is soon loosened. The strength and bearing capacity of the pipe will also decrease, and the outer diameter and length will also be deformed because this is a characteristic that the polymer material cannot change. Therefore, PVC-0 pipes cannot be used for heat source pipes, and they cannot be stored or used outdoors. It can not be exposed to the sun, can not be used too close to the heat source. The increase of temperature will cause PVC-0 pipe to creep, and the polymer material will recover the memory function and produce deformation.
